Committed to Our Community

A history of service with honor and integrity

Michael Girbino

Write-In Candidate

for

Council At-Large

Mayfield Village, OH

About Me

Mayfield Village has been my home for a very long time, even before I chose to put down roots here.  In 1986, I began full-time service with the Mayfield Village Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic.  New to the community, I was excited about my new career, and after serving a couple of years I began to realize this is where I wanted to live and raise a family.  I was taken with the small town charm, the proximity to the Metroparks, and the top-notch schools.  In 1990 I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant taking on additional responsibilities and new challenges.  Shortly thereafter I purchased a home on MetroPark Dr where I resided until 1993.  After marrying, my wife Debbie and I felt we needed more room so we purchased a larger home on Meadowood Dr. where we reside today.

During my tenure with the Fire Department and in addition to my regular duties, I was tasked with numerous responsibilities including:  Fire prevention and inspections, public education, fire investigation, and CPR training.  In addition I served as Emergency Medical Services coordinator for several years.  I established the Fire Prevention Bureau, as well as most of the public safety programs that the department still offers today.  In 2017 I was promoted to the newly created position of Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal and served in this capacity until my retirement in 2019.  In 2020 I was asked to return to service on a part-time basis during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  I served in this capacity until April of 2021

I was honored for my efforts and service In 2018 when I was presented with the Ohio Fire Service Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award by the Ohio State Fire Marshal and again in 2021 when I received the Ohio Fire Official of the Year award from the Ohio Building Officials Association.

In addition to my duties on the fire department, I served on the executive board of the Northeastern Ohio Fire Prevention Association, from 2009 through 2023 an on the Board of directors of the Building Code Officials Conference of Northeast Ohio from 2017-2023.  I also served as the Secretary of the Mayfield Village Professional Firefighters Association Local 2619 for several years.  I currently hold a position as the fire service representative on the Ohio Residential Construction Advisory Committee.

I am committed to the betterment and enrichment of this wonderful and diverse community and would very much like to continue my work in service to the community on Village Council.

I am running as a write-in candidate to fill the very large void that will be left by Allen Meyers, who has chosen to step down.  Mr. Meyers has served our community faithfully and professionally on Council, as well as a local business owner and leaves very large shoes to fill.   As his announcement to step away came after the August 6th filing deadline, my only option to run for the position was as a write-in candidate.

On November 4th, please remember to write in your choice for Council At-Large.

Vote For Michael Girbino.
